致辞
The arrival of the 21st century catapulted China into an era of new reform. She has put special emphasis on promoting social harmony and scientific discovery, both of which are important issues to China and the rest of the world. To meet this end, education is essential to Chinese nationals but especially to the young. The educational goal of Guangzhou Fok Ying Tung High School strictly follows Mr. Henry Fok Ying Tung’s school motto, “Be Patriotic! Be Virtuous! Be Inquisitive! Be Pragmatic!” The school has done its best to serve as an educational platform for cultural exchange, so as to broaden students’ global vision and better prepare them for challenges ahead.
As internationalization of education becomes an increasingly important issue in the educational development of China, strengthening an English curriculum is vital to a development strategy. The foundation has not only introduced the Cambridge International English curriculum to the school, but also tries to improve English instruction in order to promote and cultivate the teaching model of “Two written languages & three spoken languages”. These measures will substantially improve students’ access to an overseas education.
To establish Guangzhou Fok Ying Tung High School as a world-renowned school, the efforts of the principal, staff, parents and students are critically important. The Foundation provides the necessary resources and expects the school to cultivate and open and highly transparent school culture and transforms the campus into a harmonious place to live, study and develop.
面对二十一世纪之来临，中国正经历一个新的改革局面——宣导和谐社会及科学发展观，此原则对中国甚至全世界同样重要，而中国公民（尤其是青年人）的教育更不可或缺。广州市英东中学以霍英东博士提出的校训“爱国、立德、求知、务实”为办学目标，努力构建东西方文化交流的平台，为学生拓展国际视野，应对未来挑战做好准备。
基于国际化在中国发展的重要性，强化英语课程实为重要的发展策略。因此基金会不仅引进英国剑桥大学的国际英语课程，更将改进国内英文课程教学，推广及培养“两文三语”的教学模式，为学生升读国内外大学提供优质途径。
为将英东中学建设成为一所国际知名学校，校长、教职员工、家长、尤其学生的努力至为重要。基金会希望为学校培育开放及高透明度的文化，将英东中学创建成为一个和谐的生活、学习及成长的园地。
